CORONAVIRUS: Transmission by WATER.

In this period of Covid-19 pandemic, scientific researches and studies cannot be over stressed. Hence the needs to examine many ways that the infection could be transmitted, apart from the regular person to person, contact surfaces and Animals.

A very rare but, excruciating means of transmission is WATER.

Drinking water and water use for other means has a high tendency of transmitting CORONAVIRUS if contaminated with the agent.

Studies have revealed that water contaminated with faecal waste of infected person could be a vehicle for a transmission, as well that,Coronavirus is capable of being infectious in reagent water, natural environment water and water contaminated by infected person for a period of weeks depending on some environmental factors. ( Temp. 4°c to 25°c or at ambient).

Our attitudes on how we handle water in this part of the world arouse a concern. Poor water sanitation and improper  handling could spread the disease more than the conventional and popular means.
The purpose of this write up is to conciously elicit our manners towards ways of handling water, and most especially, that which may have contact with the infected person.
In order to reduce or prevent transmission of Coronavirus, water meant for drinking and other domestic use must be safe, microbiological free, treated with right quantity of approved disinfectant or boiled.
Personal hygiene of handler and or, user of water is essential. Ensuring a wide distance of infected persons and their wastes from sources of water for the communities and families.
